After (Goat / Men) is a memory of investigations into civilian deaths following U.S. airstrikes in Afghanistan (where I used to be based as a human rights worker). The US consistently denied killing civilians, so in the aftermath of a strike, it was the job of a human rights worker to confront them with evidence of numbers of dead. When massive bombs are dropped on rural villages, mud built homes are destroyed, and human bodies obliterated. In rural villages goats were often kept close to homes. The hair of goats and men would be visible in the ruins.
