Civilians

I’ve spent years living and working in war zones, particularly Afghanistan, as a journalist and human rights investigator. I now divide my time between art and writing. In my art practice, whether I intend to or not, I am drawn back to war, unable to forget the pain and injustice suffered by survivors I’ve met and interviewed. These works, some of which are maquettes and works in progress, are my exploration of those experiences and emotions.
